[Ashur] is thought to be a High Elf and displays much of the noble behaviour associated with her kind. She is, like most High Elves, graceful in movement and speech, polite, refined and elegant, sophisticated and enigmatic.
She is tall and slender, like all of her race, and possesses an unearthly, inexplicable nature, almost an aura, that makes her seem to be half in this world, half?.somewhere else. Some have sworn they could sometimes see right through her, but no proof other than hearsay and occasional eyewitness reports have come to surface thus far. While quite material, at least reported as such by those few she has allowed to touch her, she seems to possess the uncanny knack of changing her appearance to a degree not possible through mundane means. Her unearthly nature and random changes of appearance for no apparent reason lead some to whisper that she is a user of the flows of magic that ebb and flow through the fabric of the world like the music of some ancient and vast orchestra, waiting to be listened to by those who know how. Some say she is a Shapechanger, but even if such fantastic creatures could exist, none can say what they would be like, or what their intentions would be…and because [Ashur] does not speak of herself or her past, it is seemly to some to mark her as such. Others say she is insane, as she wears an almost permanent smile, delicate and slight, as if she is enjoying a joke nobody else can hear or understand. She has been known to talk quietly to herself, sometimes in the presence of others, in a language no one can understand, smiling all the while…indeed, it is said that she has been observed smiling while in obvious pain or torment, as if oblivious to the world around her or reveling in her agony…none can tell.
Her smiling demeanour often causes confused initial reactions when combined with her nature: Because she trusts in the power of words and almost never seems to say anything unless it has merit, her long silences and apparent refusal to indulge in small talk are sometimes mistaken for unfriendliness or a lack of social skills. Her silence, direct stare and ethereal smile are disturbing to some, annoying to others, and misunderstood by all who do not take the time to discover more of her admittedly unfathomable nature.
While her preferred weapons are silence or a few well-chosen words, [Ashur] is often seen carrying a finely-made blade of presumably Elven make, usually strapped to her back. While none have yet seen her use the weapon in anger, some have reported seeing her train with it or use it, and say she knows how to use it with no small measure of skill. The location of her home in Solheimer is not known, if indeed she has one, but some reports of her being seen in the company of the Wyrm of Solheimer lead to rumours of her sharing her time of sleep with the fabulous creature in its lair. Those who stay up for reasons both fair and foul after the sun has gone down say she never sleeps, for she has been seen prowling the rooftops and walls of the city in the dead of night, singing and muttering quietly to herself, smiling, always smiling...
And some say if she does not wish to be seen then none can see her which makes some, of course, question the truth behind much of what is known, or presumed to be known, about her.
The one thing that is known for certain about the strange and enigmatic creature, who calls herself [Ashur], is that nothing is known for certain...
